California bans teen driver cell phone use

We all know that teenagers are inexperienced drivers and, often, easily distracted. It appears that California has officially recognized these facts and has now banned cell phone use by teens when driving. The law was pushed by the popularity of teen text-messaging and the often disastrous results which can occur. The law takes effect July 1, 2008, and those caught violating the law will be fined $20.00 for the first offense and $50.00 for subsequent offenses. Fifteen other states have such a ban as well as D.C. This law will help keep teen drivers and those who must share the road with them safer!
