Red Light Runners Beware!

Did you know that red light runners cause more than 100,000 crashes per year? This is why this week is National Stop on Red Week What measures are being taken to slow those inclined to run red lights? The city of Aurora has operated eight red lights for about a year and a half. Major intersections are down 33% at intersections with the red light cameras and 60% percent at the intersection of E. Mississippi Avenue and S. Chambers Road. This city has also increased the amount of citations issued to red light runners. In 2006, 9,172 people were cited and in 2007, the city expects to issue as many of 11,000. Denver Police may install red light cameras next year as well.
