More and more, we're hearing stories about people who are engaging in unusual behaviors while on Ambien, an anti-insomnia medication made by Sanofi-Aventis. Many people are reporting short-term memory loss as well. Both MSNBC.com and the New York Times have reported behaviors that are even more bizarre and disturbing, involving Ambien users who drank and drove in their sleep and remembered nothing of the incident, including the accidents they caused, the following morning.

I, too, experienced horrible side effects during almost two years on Ambien. I have had two car accidents which have caused my insurance to go up nearly 300% in the past year making it almost unaffordable. I ate in my sleep, and at one point my sleep became so disturbed that I was almost a zombie, sleeping virtually 20 hours a day for an entire month. It became impossible to work and I walked away from the last month of my teaching position, unable to teach OR sleep. My memory has been affected to the point that I honestly have lost huge sections of the past two years. I was unable to open mail, answer the phone, deal with everyday issues, and handle responsbilities on a timely basis. I now have two homes in foreclosure with no memory of when I stopped making payments. I am literally unable to help myself in this process.
I used to have a nearly photgraphic memory, was an attorney for 12 years, and won a teacher of the year award when I changed professions. I now feel like I have incipient Alzhemier's and am have lost two years of my life.
Are you gathering data for a possible class action suit?
