The Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Evenflo announced a recall of Evenflo Embrace car seat/carriers due to a malfunctioning handle yesterday May 10, 2007. To read this story, click here.

Evenflo said that when using the car seat//carriers in the carrier mode the handle can unexpectedly release allowing the seat to move forward and causing an infant to fall. The unites were manufactured in the United States and China and were sold nationwide from December 2004 through September 2006. Evenflo has received 679 reports of handles unexpectedly releasing and affects about 450,000 units made before April, 2006. Evenflo reported 160 injuries to children including a skull fracture, two concussions, cuts, scrapes and bruises.

Evenflo instructs consumers to not use the handle until repaired. Consumers can contact the website through www.embracehandle.com.
