Man Dies in Sandpoint Construction Accident

A 24-year-old construction worker died Tuesday morning while working on new condominiums in Sandpoint, ID According to the Sandpoint fire chief, the man was operating a drilling rig at the Seasons at Sandpoint development when he somehow became entangled in the equipment. The accident happened around 8:30 a.m., but by the time rescuers arrived the worker had already passed away.

The accident is still under investigation by the Sandpoint Police Department, and federal work safety investigators have been called in to take a closer look. Work on the condominiums was halted after the accident. There is no word on when construction work will resume at the site.
