Mariott chain to restore historic downtown Cheyenne structure to house TownePlace Suites, says it's "excited to keep it as is."

The Wyoming Tribune published a follow-up piece about the $9-10 million dollar renovation project:

By summer, work may have started on a new hotel in downtown Cheyenne.

On Thursday executives from Capital Management Inc. announced they have won the franchise to build a TownePlace Suites hotel, part of the Marriott hotel family, in the historic Hynds Building at the corner of West Lincolnway and Capitol Avenue.

When it's completed anywhere from 10 to 14 months later, the renovated building will be home to about 100 guest rooms or suites; that number hasn't been finalized.

This particular chain offers extended-stay facilities, which come with fully equipped kitchens in each of the guest suites.

The price tag for the project is estimated at between $9 million and $10 million. But Capital Management President Chuck Mackey said that is subject to change.
