Residents in Midwest still with no power

A week after the huge ice storm that hit the Midwest, more than 88,000 homes and businesses in Oklahoma are still without power.

Temperatures have been falling into the teens overnight this week, leaving people not only in the dark, but fighting the rigid coldness. Some residents in Oklahoma have spent money on hotels, thinking their power would be restored in only a couple of days. Others have been staying in shelters in downtown Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma was the hardest hit by the recent ice storm in the Midwest. The storm caused more than 27 deaths in Oklahoma, with 38 total deaths in the region.

In Kansas, 24,000 people remain without power and may not even see electricity for more than a week.

"I think they're doing the best they can, but they need more manpower," stated a resident of Oklahoma who is growing frustrated with the slow progress.
