Reports of a man with a rare form of tuberculosis has medical communities across the globe in frenzy.

The man, who has a rare form of TB known as XDR Tuberculosis, is currently quarantined in Atlanta but will soon be moved to Denver. XDR is extremely resistant to drugs usually used to treat other forms of TB. This is the first quarantine order the government has issued since 1963. As quoted by a fellow blogger, the infected man is said to have made the following statement: "I'm a very well-educated, successful, intelligent person. This is insane to me, that I have an armed guard outside my door, when I've cooperated with everything other than the whole solitary-confinement-in-Italy thing." This situation highlights the very fact that as impoverished countries often lack access to adequate health care, other countries such as the United States can be put at grave risk.
